My GE dryer model DRSR483EG5WW runs, looks, and sounds OK, but produces no heat.I plan to order several parts, and return what I don't need...
...which parts would you suggest?
E.g. thermostat, heating element, other parts you may suggest.
The most likely cause for the unit not heating would be a faulty thermal fuse or high limit thermostat but a broken heater could also be an issue. The best course of action is to do some testing as the issue could also be caused by a bad timer or a bad motor. Both of these supply power to the heater. You would want to check the thermostats and the thermal fuse for continuity. If there is not continuity then you would want to replace the part. You would also want to check to see if there is 240 vac at the terminals of the heater when the unit is running. If you disconnect one of the wires from the heater and then test from the heater terminal to ground there should be 120 vac when the unit is running. Also when you test from the disconnected wire there should also be 120 vac to ground. If either side does not have 120 vac then that line is what needs to be traced to see where the loss of power is.
