My washing machine Mod WJRE5550H1WW goes through cycle (fills with water drains etc) the motor does not turn on. I tried to reset as recommended by GE by disconnecting electric, waiting 1 minute, and opening the door 6 times which did not work. Is the motor gone or is there some circuit I have to check before buy the motor?
Answer Hello Paul,
If you open the control panel, you will find the tech sheet. This sheet tells how to read the codes given by the board on top of the motor assembly. To see the led light, you must remove the main front with a putty knife and lay down to see under the protective cover under the tub, over the board. Count the number of flashes before the pause and use the sheet to determine the circuit causing the issue. If the light does not flash, the fuseable link in the harness will need to be changed. Once changed, read the code. Do not try to run the unit before the issue has been located and corrected as this will simply blow the fuse again.
