I'm getting 4 flashes on the motor, and the mode shifter coil is open. However, I've read that some motors have a firmware defect that blows the shifter if the door is opened at the wrong time. The part # of the motor on mine is 175D5106G030. Apparently, high voltage is applied to the shifter for too long, which blows a thermal cutout. Is this motor firmware issue correct? Wouldn't GE be obligated to repair/replace washers with this problem since they are damaging themselves?

Hello- after replacing the clutch assembly in my GE washer I now get the LED lights flashing 4 times on the motor and based on the instructions provided, it translates to a failing mode shift circuit and should check the mode shifter coil! Does this mean the motor needs to be replaced?!!! Thanks

Hello - my washer does not spin or agitate...i have replaced the lid switch and now replaced the motor, still no luck, when i tried running the washer with the new motor it started to smoke...did I fry the new motor? Also, neither motor has an LED that I can see...from other answers it seems that the next step would be the timer board...and to check voltages...however I dont have a tester...thoughts on how to proceed? Thanks

My washing machine Mod WJRE5550H1WW goes through cycle (fills with water drains etc) the motor does not turn on. I tried to reset as recommended by GE by disconnecting electric, waiting 1 minute, and opening the door 6 times which did not work. Is the motor gone or is there some circuit I have to check before buy the motor?
