I got a message to change filter. It did not specify which filter. I have cleaned the silver grease filter and it looks fine. Is there another filter? Also, now the microwave touch pad does not work. Would it be inactivated, after a period if I failed to change whatever filter it indicated?
Answer Hello Tracy,
Some microwaves have a charcoal filter behind the air grille. This is most likely the one the alert was for. This, however, will not have any affect on the units' touchpad. The tech sheet should be located behind the control panel. This has a flowchart of checks to make in a specific order to pinpoint the cause of the issue. Simply remove the two screws along the top edge of the unit that thread down toward the floor and slip the air grille off. There will be a single screw centered over the control panel that holds it in. It is removed by removing the screw and sliding the control panel straight up and it will unhook from the front of the unit. The tech sheet should be visible at this point. Be sure not to lose it since it is model specific.
