My bake element on my old GE 35-year old wall oven ceased working. It seems the element still was okay but one of the wire was broken.

My Repair & Advice
My neighbor installed the new element but had problems with unscrewing the remaining wire from the plate as it was all corroded and the remaining screws rusted and burnt out. I don't really know what he did as I had given hope since one of the wires was broken off. But I suppose he replaced it. He said he could keep my existing element since after checking it he said it still worked, but I told him since I had a new one to put the new one in. It does work now but he has to find anothe couple of screws to screw the plate to the back. My element had been loose for a long time and I suppose one side (the wire) just broke off after my last automatic cleaning when I lifted the element to wipe out the residue that was left. The repair was difficult on account of the broken wire or it would have been easy if this problem didn't exist.
