On my small burners( both don't work) I replaced the infinite switch but they still don't work. I don't get any noise like I do from the large burner. Could the pilot light be the cause?

The indicator lights are on but none of the top burners work on my electric stove.

Our GE electric range has only 1 indicator light to tell us that a burner is on, and that indicator light is no longer working. I see that the part is available for <$20.00 and want to know if this is something a reasonably adept do it yourselfer can replace and if there are any safety precautions to take when removing the old part and replacing it with a new one (like disconnecting the stove from the electric service).

Latest Questions

This is to answer your question: "Hi Martyl. The pilot light is controlled by the corresponding burner and switch. You have not mentioned which burner that was left on and caused the issue...." The cause was blown out of the Left Rear electric element, which results in the constant ON of the indicator light. The left Rear slot can be still usable if a new element is placed. Do you suggest I need to replace both burner and switch? Thanks. I have a JBP24 G W1WH electric stove whose indicator light is now constantly ON no matter whether the stove is using or off. Now with the indicator light constantly on, it's not safe to use the unit as we don't know it's off. Which part should I buy to fix the problem. By the way, the problem was caused by overheating of a pan to dryness and blown out the circuit.
