My GE Profile dishwasher is loud when draining.

Answer Hello G.B.,
This sounds like a foreign object such a piece of glass has made its' way to the pump impeller. You should simply remove the pump and make sure nothing is inside it. Once you have it off you should spin the impeller with a small screwdriver. You will feel the magnetic field from the windings, but you shouldn't feel anything rough or loose inside the pump. If nothing is inside it, the pump most likely has bad bushings and will require replacement.

Answer Hello Purandar,
Remove the kick panel from the front of the unit after turning off the power to it. You may want to wear gloves to prevent injury as you are reaching under the unit to remove the screw from the hanger and two hose clamps. If any water is inside the unit, you should use a shop vac to remove it as every drop of water in the unit will run out underneath from the hoses you are about to remove. Once these are off, The two hoses and the screws, the part is loose and the new one can be installed. Installation is in the reverse order. I always disconnect the hoses first so the bracket will hold the pump in place for me and when I reassemble, I put the hoses on first as it is easier for me to get the hoses on with out the pump secured. This, of course, is personal preference.

Purchased DW 1 1/2 yrs ago. There is standing water(alot) in bottom. Repairman said pump is pumping water out but not very much. He said I needed a new pump and it would cost me $170. The pump you have listed is only $58 so I don't know why he is charging $170. Do I need a new motor as well? Does this sound right? Do you think I just need part #AP3872950 or do you think it might be something else? Also, what does ASM stand for?
Tim for Model Number gld4466r00ss
Answer Hi Tim. Look at a couple of things first. Use a bucket to put the drain hose in and make sure the hose or the sink itself is not clogged. Place the drain hose as far up at the rear top of the inside cabinet. It has to be looped and secured to the cabinet , then taught to the sink drain. This will create a "p-trap" for the sink stink and the drain water from backing up in the tub. Explains all this in the installation manual. Unhook the intake and drain hose at the pump and see if they are clogged. Is the impeller turning on the pump shaft stripped? Make sure the drain pump output check valve is inside, not damaged. This part # is WD01X10175. Is the pump getting 120vac from the board (Humming or check coils for 35 ohms), not open. Pump part # is WD26X10043. Remove top motor parts and see if any filters are clogged. Thank you.
