The wash cycle works ok. Slow spin is ok, but as it speeds up the vibration gets worse and to the point it sounds like a engine on an old plane just popping and bouncing. When I pulled drain plug and catch out I found large chunk of metal that was corroded. Where would this come from. I figure its the problem but not sure what part is the problem.

Answer DDegrave, It is hard to pinpoint where the large chunk of metal came from but inside the unit the only place that it could come from would be the tub bearing or the spinner assembly as these parts are the only metal components that could get into the drain if they break.

The wash cycle seems to be working fine but the other day during the high spin cycle, the washing suddenly started to make like a strange humming noise and got a lot louder.When i stopped it and opened the door steam came out. Is this a bearing problem on the motor, or on the tub. the belt seemed to be in good shape could that be slipping? I checked the belt and spun the tub manually with no problem. thank you

Answer Hello Al, It sounds like the belt was slipping causing the chirping and smoke. Be careful not to overload the unit as this is the most common reason for this complaint. Also if the rear bearings were bad it would be more of a grinding noise.
