Answer Hello Jeff, You need to check the broil burner first. If it lights normally, there is no need in changing the safety valve. The issue is most commonly the ignitor. You see, the ignitor must draw from 3.2 to 3.6 amps of current before the safety valve can open. This is the current required to form the necessary electromagnetic field to open the safety valve against the force of the safety valves' closure spring. If the broil burner starts normally, the issue in with the current draw and will have nothing to do with the safety valve itself.

Answer Hello John. When they converted the range, did they do both the oven and the cooktop on the unit? It sounds like the unit was not converted properly. If it worked before and not now. Or they damaged the igniter in the oven and it needs to be replaced.

Answer Hello Joe. Check and see if the pilot flame gets bigger in the unit when you turn on the thermostat WB20K2. If not, you will need to replace the thermostat. If it does get larger, you will need to replace the safety valve WB19K12 in the unit. Hope this helps.

Answer Hi Henry. The thermocouple reacts with the standing pilot and allow the inner safety valve diaphragm to react as commanded. The diaphragm is not properly responding. The safety gas valve is part # WB19K12. Thank you.
