I have been told the smart board in my GE JMV1440 microwave. How hard is it to replace myself. I work in computers so I have an electronics backround.
To replace the smart board in your microwave, you would first need to remove the vent grill at the top of the unit by removing a couple of screws on the top. Once removed there would be 1 screw holding the control panel in place. Remove the screw and lift and pull out of the control panel which will give you access to replace the smart board. Make sure power is disconnected when doing this.
The micro wave will attempt to start cooking but after approx. 2 sec the whole control panel goes black. After a short period the unit will reset it's self just like it will do after losing power everything blinking. Never worked on a micro wave but have worked on many other appliances.
Answer Hi Matt. There is a upper cavity thermostat part # WB27X10195 that opens if there is a overheat issue. I have seen in rare cases the regular feed fuse part # WB27X10388 will open internally, cool down and make contact once again. There is also the door monitor switch part # WB24X829 that opens the circuit if the door is not shut properly. Next- you need to check the noise filter assy. part # WB02X11200 that has to feed the voltage to the smart board part # WB27X10871. Make sure all connections are tight. Use the supplied wiring diagram under the control panel to assist. Use a volt/ohm meter part # TJMA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Thank You.
