Something sparked and the microwave stopped. I thought something happened inside. No problem there but would not work. My husband flipped the breaker and it came back on. I hit the 4 key again and it operated for 3 seconds and quit for good. Could this be a blown fuse or is it more likely a bad key pad?
Answer Hello Sue,
This is probably a bad fuse. This could have been caused by a number of things in the unit but the most common cause is a bad door switch. There are three of these and should all be replaced at the same time. To prevent the door switches from being a problem, never open the door when the unit is running. Always hit the stop/pause button before opening the door.
Code F3 came up on our GE microwave, indicating that the control board may be defective. Can the Smart control board, WB27X10873, for the GE JVM3670BF06 microwave be installed without taking down the microwave oven - which is attached to the cabinet over the range ? If so, please consult the GE Service Manual and let me know how do I get the touch tone pad out, to get to the control board - which is behind the pad ? The touch tone pad is inside a large plastic piece on the right hand side of the JVM3670 , that extends up the entire height of the oven, and I need to know- if the oven doesn't have to be taken down, how does one get the touch pad ( with the control board) out. Do you pry it out, or is there a screw that is holding it somewhere to the oven? In sum, this model's touch tone pad doesn't lift up and out, for the plastic piece extends the entire height of the microwave on the right hand side. Appreciate your help and assistance, so I know how to take out the old control board, and replace it with a new one.
To remove the control panel from your unit you would need to remove 2 or 3 screws from the top front of the microwave which hold the vent grill in place. Once the vent grill is removed there will be a screw that holds the control panel in place. Make sure that power is disconnected and remove the screw. The control panel will roll down and you will need to disconnect the wires going to it. Pay attention to where each wire goes or mark them and remove the control panel. Remove the control board and install the new board.
