Foot pedal will not say up on its own. It runs the full compaction cycle but you have to hold foot up the whole time. Draw has been replaced as well as foot pedal but still not staying up on its own.

The trash compact start level/pedal must be held for the compactor to work and go down and up. On the down swing it reaches the bottom and returns at once. On the up swing when it reaches the top it does not stop. I replaced the start switch but it did not solve the problem. The unit has been working great for 5 years this is the first problem we've had. I keep the compactor very clean and all moving parts lubricated. Please help, I am handy and can fix this with the right guidance. Thanks

Serial # SH4900940E Someone started opening the drawer during a cycle jamming the ram. We were able to get it unstuck but now when we lift up on the foot switch it starts but then stops when we let go. We can get it to run through its complete cycle as long as we hold the foot switch up. As soon as we let go it stops running, it does however change directions to go back up but will not go completely up without holding the foot pedal up. I'm thinking it needs a new switch but I'm not sure which one. I replaced the start switch & it made no difference so I know for sure it is NOT the start switch. Someone just replied that it sounded like it was the start switch even though I posted that in my previous question, thank you for the reply but that is not the fix, what next?
