For GE range with model plate showing J B600G0D1A H which is generally searched for as JB600G*D1 and appears in your system as JB600GXD1. We replaced two front burners and their receptacles with parts from you. WB30X218 (6") and WB30X219 (8"), WB17X5051 (receptacles). The left front (6") burner now works perfectly. The 8" burner appears to be fine, also, if tested in the left rear 8" position, but in its right front position, turning it on results in a full-on very hot burner, no matter what the burner control setting is. (It hasn't been used that way, just turned on briefly for testing.) I suspect that the problem might be in the switch, for which the proper replacement seems to be WB21X5243? Is that right? I was also considering replacing the wiring from the switch to that receptacle, but didn't know the specs for appropriate wire? I doubt if the problem is with the receptacle, but was wondering if there was anything in the receptacle that should be checked to be sure it wasn't causing this?

I hear a slight hissing/crackling noise for a fraction of a second when the rear left element powers up or down. I opened up the cook top and inspected the element. It looked fine. I turned it on and off while listening closely. It seems that the noise is coming from the control switch, not the element. I pulled the back panel off and confirmed that was the source of the noise. All the wire connections were tight on the switch, and the switch did not feel warm to the touch after several cycles. I assume there is a little arcing going on inside it. I'm not sure whether this is normal, or something that could be a potential fire hazard. Any thoughts?

Bought Infinite switch WB21X5243. Adapter that fits in the knob sticks way out from face of stove no matter how much I cut back the stem. Any advice?

Latest Questions

I wanted to replace a surface element switch for the smaller 6 inch element. The pro team suggested that I order AP2023620 which is an universal switch that works for both 6 and 8 inch switch. I am worry about the wiring from the current one to the new one. I attached a picture, the one on the left is the one that I need to replace. Please advice on how to wiring. If the current one has terminal marking like: 4-H2, 5-L2, 3-L1, 2-P, and 1-H1, and if the new one has the same terminal markings, I should just wire them like for like? https://www.dropbox.com/s/fkoal56dms3n32a/2013-11-24%2011.19.44.jpg

Hi, I have a GE gas range/oven and all the sudden all the surface burners can not be lit up. I do not hear the click sound when I turn the knob but I can light it up with a match (means I still can switch on the gas). Do I need to replace the ignitor, switch or the spark unit? Thanks, Tony

Hello, I've just replaced the infinite switch, WB21X5243, which I guess is a universal unit that replaces WB21X226. Everything works, but the adapter that fits my knob is the small solid "D" with an extension to fit over the square stem, causing the knob to stick out about 3/8" above the control panel. The instructions refer to a yellow bushing that goes over the square stem. I received an orange bushing that would go over the square stem, but its "D" shape is too big for my knob. I'm looking at the other parts in this kit, thinking that this assembly (bracket, threaded collar, nut) somehow gets attached to the switch inside the control panel (the extension on the adapter fits into it perfectly), but can't for the life of me figure out how to incorporate it into the install. I could attach the bracket to the switch, but the threaded collar won't fit through the hole on the control panel to receive the nut. And even if it goes that way, wouldn't I need longer screws to pass through the bracket and attach the switch directly to the control panel to keep it from turning with the knob? Heeeeeeelp! Thanks, Cindy
