I need to replace a variable speed fan switch on an island broan hood. I do not know the model number (about 20 years old) is there a universal variable fan switch?
Bill
Answer Hello Bill,
Without a model number, we have no way of knowing the rating on the switch or how it mounts. Many times on a hood assembly, if you remove the electrical cover, you may actually find the units' I.D. label. If you can locate it, please contact us and we will do our very best to assist you in your repair.
I need to replace the fan switch #23, but it appears to have long wires going back to the motor. Does the replacement need to be wired back the same way, or can the old switch simply be cut out and wire nuts used to replace?

Answer Hello Steve, To install the fan switch, you will use an ice pick or pick tool and go beside the wires in the side of the old switch and release the locking tabs and pull the wires from the switch WB24X10129. Then push the wires into the new switch in the same location. These can be hard to get to release from the switch, but should release with a small ice pick or pick tool.
