I can light the oven pilot (it takes a while sometimes and at times the pilot light seems small) but it keeps going out every few days. You mentioned in one the answers that the thermostat includes the thermocouple, is that true? Or do I need to get that extra? What about the line btw thermostat and thermocouple? Is it easy to replace? (I am pretty handy) Do I need sealant or tape for the connections? Thanks
Answer Hello Bernie,
You will need to replace the thermostat to obtain the thermocouple. This is the only way it is available. You will need some pipe dope or silicone tape, (whichever you get has to be rated for use with gas). The connections will have to be checked for leaks before placing it back into operation. Put one teaspoon of liquid soap into a quart of water for the proper mixture to check for gas leaks with.
