Began not finishing wash cycle, had to manually turn knob to continue rinse cycle. Now does not go into wash cycle but does rinse and spin cycle.

Washer timer seems to be working fine, goes through all the cycles fine. whats happening is you cannot set the timer on a cycle without pressing on face of dial. can just the dials be replaced or does the whole timer need to be replaced? Thanks for your input
