GE Front Load Washer. I am trying to determine if my washer needs a new timer module or a new control board. A few days ago my daughter did smell something warm/burnt/electrical???, but she was not sure which it was. It has now come to our attention that the washer seems to get stuck at a few different stages in the wash cycle. 10 minutes into the wash cycle the washer drained, but did not spin the laundry. After waiting 6 minutes, I advanced the timer by one notch. At that point the washer filled, and then paused for 5 minutes. (There was no tumbling through this time frame). I again advanced the timer one notch. It then drained and spun the excess water out. The unit then filled with water and tumbled for 12 to 14 second cycles. After a couple of minutes of this action, the washer then started to tumble in short 3 to 4 second cycles with a 20 second pause before another 3 second tumble. This continued for approx 7 minutes before I advanced the timer again. It drained and spun out the excess water. The unit then filled and again started the short 3 second tumbles with 20 second pauses. This continued for another 7 minutes before I advanced the timer for the last time. The washer continued through its final spin process successfully. That was on the Cotton cycle. It did similar tumbling and pause cycles in the Permanent Press cycle too. Thanks for you input in advance Ian

My front loading washer will agitate but will not spin during the wash cycle nor will it final spin. In perm press and delicate cycle it will start to spin then shut off. I have changed out the door lock assembly and checked the drain trap and the problem still exists. I noticed that the red flap located in the drain pump is not attached. It appears it has torn off at the the connection. Is there any correlation between the flap not being connected and the washer not spinning?

Can this part be replaced by removing the front kick plate on the botton of the washer. I cannot see this part from the bottom front. Is this part number GEAP2620139 the same part as item #877730 which I got from the GE web. Do you have a return policy if part doesn't fit or is the wrong part?
