I have a GE stove model number JGBP90MEB6BC and I have been smelling gas lately. When I turn the burner switch off, there is still a small flame left. I suspect that the switch does not turn off completely, allowing some gas to escape. What part do I need to repair this?

The gas valve isn't closing all of the way and will require replacement. The part number is dependant on which burner is giving the issue. For the front left and front right burners, the proper valves' part number is WB21K12. For the right rear burner, the proper valve part number is WB21K21. For the left rear burner, the WB21K20 is the correct valve. Be sure before changing the burners to unplug the unit and turn the gas supply off. After replacing the valve, before reassembling the top assembly, mix no more than 1 teaspoon of liquid soap to 1 quart of water. Any more soap than this will not show a leak. Use this solution to check for leaks by looking for bubbles with a flashlight and, if necessary, an inspection mirror. If you locate a leak, turn the gas off immediately and re-tighten the connections. Do not put the unit back into operation until all leaks have been corrected. Never look for a leak with an open flame. Do not use Teflon tape on compression fittings.
