Hi, My microwave will work ok for a few minutes then stop heating. The area next to the light gets excessively hot, nearly 200 deg F, (with infrared thermometer.) Input voltage is 118V-120V. I pulled the microwave / oven combo from the wall and tested the following components: magnetron, HV transformer, diode, and capacitor, all components were disconnected from their wiring before testing with the following results: Magnetron: <1 Ohm across its terminals Open between terminals and ground Capacitor: My millimeter has a capacitor test function and it returned 1 µf, the cap says it should be 0 .95 µf +/- 3%, 1 µf is a little out of range, but my meter is 20 years old so its accuracy may not be all that good. HV Transformer: Between the two leads that go to the magnetron <1 ? Between the 120V input connectors <1 ? Between ground and the single red with black trace lead that goes to the single contact of the capacitor ~75 ? Between all points and ground were open (except the single lead mention above) Diode: Found it to be open in both directions and replaced it. The oven exhibited the same results as before. Any thoughts? Thank you. Dana

I believe that the HV transformer on the microwave is defective. It has blown the internal fuse a couple times. Do you have any info on what the resistance on the primary side of the transformer should be?
