My GE washer continues to work ok but has become very, very loud during agitating. Also it makes a very loud and terrible grinding / scraping noise like marbles being thrown around during spinning. HELP!!
Frank for Model Number WHDSEC820COWW
Answer Frank, You'll need to remove the front panel and isolate the location of the noise, if the motor area is the location, you'll need to check or replace the clutch assembly and belt WH5X256 , WH1X2026. If it seems to be from the tub area, you'll need to remove the tub cover WH45X10022 and check for articles(coins, nails, buttons ) remove the inner tub and check the hub WH45X10027 for loose bolts and damage.
How could this shield come free? It did, jammed against the drum's transmission counterweight and almost burned the motor out. Shouldn't this shield be a permanant screwed mount?
Laddie R. for Model Number WPSE4200A0WW
Answer Hello Laddie. Yes, the shield WH45X10046 should be secured. You will need to check and see if the screws have came out of the machine. They may be laying inside the bottom of the machine. Some of these lock in place with clips. Hope this helps.
