My mother-in-law has a g.e. washer. She was doing a wash and the washer over filled. Is there something else besides the electric water valve that could malfunction? What sends the signal to the electric valve to shut the water off?

Answer Hello! The water pressure switch sends the signal to the water inlet valve once the washer has reached its desired fill level. The water pressure switch has a hose that runs from the switch to the tub that can that at times can kink or clog you will want to check this hose before replacing the switch. A good way to tell if the switch or the valve is defective is to run the washer and unplug it while it is filling. If it continues to fill, the valve is defective. If it stops filling, the switch or hose is defective. I hope this information helps you. Thanks!
