How do I install the freezer drawer roller gear end cap, part #5006JA2069A. I was unsure if the gear comes off the bar easily in order to make this repair. Also, not sure if the two are related but the bar to the ice maker does not go up when you push the top drawer closed. It does not properly engage into the scalloped or stair structure at the back of the ice bin. The bar stays in a lower position and makes a clicking noise or motor running noise as if the ice maker is continuing to run. I am able to manually elevate the bar and it stays in place.
To remove the gear for the lower freezer drawer you will want to pull the upper drawer out of the unit. Once out you will want to remove a screw located on either side of the front of the rail that holds the lower bin and door. You will want to unload the stuff from the drawer because once the screws are removed you will lift the door of the unit and lift the bin out. Once out to change the gear you will use a flatblade screwdriver and there is a tab next to the inside if the roller on the rail. Push this in and lift the roller out. As for the icemaker, it sounds like the icemaker may be damaged. The icemaker arm should not be able to be lifted and stay up as this is not in the design of it. Also the clicking noise may be the icemaker trying to cycle but cannot because of internal damage.
