My 3 year old LG refrigerator with the freezer drawer on the bottom has stopped cooling in the refrigerator upper part, but the bottom freezer continues to freeze. What can the problem be? model # LFC25776ST

Ice is collecting in bottom of freezer and water is running out on floor. I have completely defrosted several times and it continues to freeze up and allow water to run on to floor. Could the defrost element or sensor be bad? Should the drain be completely open when the completely defrosted? It appears to have something in place that only allows a small stream of water through the ~.5 inch drain.
