Answer Hello Jim, I can't say from here where the gray plastic is coming from but, I have run many service calls and can tell you that better than 95% of the time, foreign matter in machines come from inside pockets.

Answer Hello Richelle. If the rubber o-ring on the filter 383EER2001A is bad, it will cause the unit to leak. You may need to replace the filter on the unit.
