My microwave starts running when you open the door. I have heard that this could be a primary or secondary switch. Do I need to remove the entire microwave case to get at this or can the door and front faceplate be removed alone? I see no screws. Does the control panel just pop off? Also, I see there is something called a latchbox? Does this latchbox include the primary and secondary switches? If so, wouldn't it be just as easy to replace the whole latchbox?

Answer Hi. The secondary switch part # 3B73362F needs replaced. When you remove the top vent grill, remove the top plate above the control panel. Than remove the control panel top screw. Lift up on the control panel and note all wire connections so they are reconnected back correctly. Lay the controls aside. Look in and to the left you remove the 2 - inner door latch screws that holds the latch assy. w/ switches. Then you have access to the switches explained in the wiring diagram in the control board folded up. Thank You.
When you open the door, the microwave activates, lite, fan, plate table turns. What do you think is the cause faulty latch?

Answer Hi Jay. There are 2 different micro switches in the 3-switch latch assy. Open the door and remove the control panel screws. Lift the control panel up and out of the cavity frame. It will hinge fwd and support itself with a bracket that swivels out along with it. From the rt. side look into the door and see if the door latch itself part # 4026W2A016A is contacting each switch button as you open the door over and over slowly. Lift the latch up and down, it should be spring loaded naturally being held in the down position w/ the door open. Is that spring broken inside the door ? Is the rounded tab on the end of the latch broken or worn ? The primary switch (usually on the top of the 3 switches) may be stuck shut physically or internally shorted contacts. Look at our web site and see the 2 micro switches. One has 2-contact terminals and is part # 3B73362F and is normally open. The next one has 3-terminals and is a normally closed switch part # 3B73361E. It is best to replace all the switches because of the same age and chance of another one wearing out as well. They are safety switches. We have a young archive and can not read the smudged wiring diagram on your unit clearly. In the inside of the control panel there is a wiring diagram to use. Take note of all wire connections before unhooking them fore reassembly. Thank You.
How do I replace the door latch?
