Answer Kelly, The vibration and damage to the tub cover(front tub). Could be the indication of more issues than you can see at present. The issue may be in the "spider" assembly 4434ER0003C and/or the tub bearings 4280FR4048K,4280FR4048C,4036ER2003A. If the parts mentioned are broken, cracked, or worn badly, when washing the clothes, and the tub spins, the front portion of the spin basket will"tap" the front portion of the outer tub and create the damage you described. Most parts for your washer are still available, some have neen revised and substituted by other part numbers.
Hi. I also have violent instability when on spin cycle. In regular mode it drains but wont enter into the spin cycle. No error codes are given. In test mode it spins ok with out any load on both slow and fast setting. With small towel and larger wet towel it goes completely out of control.
Is there a way to confirm only the shocks are at fault, as apposed to bearings and such.

Answer Hi. As you described no load as well as with a light load there are no violent issue. Remove the front panel. Look inside at the dampers and see if there is oil or grease leaking on the lower metal shaft. Look to see if the locator's pins are secure in the bottom of the cabinet all the way through the two-loops lifted from the cabinet. Look at the top to see if the outer tub ears are broken where the absorbers connect. Look in the back cover and male sure the main pulley nut is tight and there is no play on the pulley and the shaft. Open the front door and spin the inner basket while looking at the door bellows. See if the inner tub run out is too sloppy designating the inner tub shaft and rear outer tub bearing too sloppy and needs changed. All of this can be done quickly and 99% of the time its just worn out struts that all need replaced at the same time. Thank You.
