I bought this used washer on craigslist I was washing some towels and on the start up of the spin cycle the drum hit both side of the outer cabinet I noticed dents in the cabinet so this had happened several times in the past before I owned the washer. It did it only one during that cycle then balanced its self out. I opened the top and the rear of the unit to see if the springs or the shock absorber had come off or something. I noticed that there are two shock absorber in the front and only one in the rear of the drum the rear of the drum is what hit the outer cabinet. Is this a common accuracy with LG washers? Or do you think the rear shock is bad or all of them?

Hi. I also have violent instability when on spin cycle. In regular mode it drains but wont enter into the spin cycle. No error codes are given. In test mode it spins ok with out any load on both slow and fast setting. With small towel and larger wet towel it goes completely out of control. Is there a way to confirm only the shocks are at fault, as apposed to bearings and such.

The web site says the shock absorber or damper for the drum is a number 4901ER2003A. Is this the right number for the LG washer I have listed above? Also, does the machine have some kind of sensor that stops it from spinning if the drum hits the front edge of the frame? The splines on the rotor (the driven section) of the motor where it connects to the drum were rounded off. This appears to have been caused by the drum hitting the front of the frame. I ran the machine with the rear access open. I then put a strong elastic band around the support or shock absorber to hold the drum back slightly. That held the drum from hitting the front of the machine. The motor and drum seemed to work fine. Am I on the right track?
