Installed water valve filled ice tray but water started over flowing out of tray. Solenoid was humming and was getting hot to touch. So unplug ice maker side to let cool. Is it possible that the ice maker assembly is stuck in fill mode and not going thru cycle ?the old assembly did not make ice at all so I am wondering if it is bad also. But the old water valve was leaking slowly.

My ice maker will fill with water only when first turned on. It fills, freezes, ejects cubes, and then won't fill again. I have checked and the valve is getting power both when it fills (obviously) and when it doesn't fill. I can turn if off for as short a time period as 20 to 30 minutes, and when I turn it back on, it will fill. The in door water dispenser which gets water from the same valve, works just fine. Is a bad valve the likely culprit, even though it works fine when the ice maker is first turned on and for the water dispenser?

I replaced the water line to this fridge,at first 0 water would come out. The next morning I get about a shot glass of water from the water dispenser. The ice maker is working fine. I go back 1/2 hour later and get another shot glass of water.

My water tube in my LG refrigerator (5 yrsd old) was cracking likely due to age or heat. Rather than replacing it in its entirity since I did not know how to get into the back of the fridge, I bought a compresion fitting and spliced the line at the top of the fridge a few inches before it goes in. So there is a new tube from the main water vavle at the bottom right side of the tube and 5 ft up the fridge. To my surprise, after I plugged in the refrigerator, water would not come out of the water dispenser. I pulled the water valve out, had it tested for continuity and it also opened when plugged to a power source. The icemaker still makes ICE which tells me water is going to the icemaker when calling for ice. However, no water comes out of the dispenser. I found part # 5220JB2008A which is a dual valve. Could this be the problem? bad valve that only allows one side to open? if so, where is this valve and how do I replace it? Could the problem be electrical, bad fuse? if so, where and how do I test it? Thank you!
