How can I tell if the valve is bad or the ice maker is at fault?
Answer Hello Dave. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Ice maker water valve 5220JB2010A came with the fridge. How is part # 5220JA2009D different? Picture is the same. I mistakenly ordered the D part.
The only difference that I can see would be that on the new part for your water valve in the unit would have the wires physically attached to the solenoid. You will want to check to see if they can actually be disconnected and if they can be then the AJU55759303 water valve will work. If not then you will need to get 5220JB2010A.
