My magtag topload washer won't agitate although I am becoming agitated. Motor spins fine and it will complete a spin cycle, fill, drain, etc. when I advance the control knob. It just won't agitate, but motor will still turn and begin to burn belt. This problem started a few weeks ago, but somehow after a few manual starts and stops I could get it to agitate and finish. Now nothing I do will get it to agitate. Is it dead? Thanks for your help.

Answer Rob, You will need to check for a "locked up" transmission, or a frozen, seized tub bearing. Raise the front of the washer, and block it up or lean it against the wall. Remove the belts, Turn the transmission pulley clockwise(agitate direction) and it should be somewhat easy to turn, and not "lock up". Turn the transmission pulley counterclockwise and in 1/2 to 3/4 of a revolution the tub should start to spin, and be a bit hard to turn the pulley, if the tub won't turn, or you hear or feel the tub "break loose" you'd have a seized up tub bearing. Good Luck and Thanks
