I asked question currently under "most interesting". You advised that defrost t-stat MCBR1010 was what I needed. My current t-stat has only 2 white wires.....yours has a 3rd red. How do I integrate this new t-stat into my unit?

Freezer defrosted and allowed meat to start defrosting. First tech (Sears) said defrost timer stuck/failed. Sears said he couldn't get part. I purchased and installed new one from you. Unfortunately I left on high cool and cokes in refrig froze and burst. Cleaned up mess, but after re-starting refrig, ice cream still would not get hard in freezer section and refrig would only get to about 45 degrees. 2nd tech (independent) found coils were fully iced over and he says defrost heater (he called it a "thermister" ???) wasn't working. Says he can't get parts and left. I'm assuming a "defrost thermistat", but on-line picture doesn't look like what I have. What tech showed me has 2 white wires that go to thermocouple metal ends within a small 1/2" X 3" see-thru vinyl pouch. Wires laid across top of coils and pouch lay up against R. side of coils (fins). What do I need?

Hello Appliancepartspros.com, I have a mcbr1010w refrigerator that builds frost on the evaporator coils. On order# 3537320 I purchased the AP4565212 DEF THERMOSTAT and replaced it on the appliance; however, the next day the problem resumed and the frost continued to build up. I decided to test the new thremostat by dropping it inside a glass of water for a few minutes and then checking for continuity with an ohm meter, but the thermostat fails to show continuity between the red wire and the white wire ( Vcc & GND?) This model of thermostat has three wires, two white and one red. Continuity is always present between the white wires, no matter if its hot or cold and the red wire never shows continuity. Is this a brand new defective thermostat? Please advise on the appropriate procedure to test part AP4565212? Regards. PS- I tested the Defrost Heater SKU# AP4565241 and it shows continuity, so we can isolate the heater. -Eli Greenville, TX 903-413-2681

The defrost timer is not cycling. I replaced the timer and it's still not cycling. Does anything else need to be looked at? I've also replaced the heater and the defrost thermostat. This didn't help. Any help on what to look for now?
