My fridge stops cooling, the light is on. I tried turning it off and on again still it would not cool or freeze. I tried turning the defrost time at the back and starts to cool. It did same thing several times. What is wrong with it?

3 year old refrigerator we use in a seasonal cabin. After running for about 15 hours it starts making a very loud ticking noise when the compressor is running. It seems to tick for a couple of hours each time. I called Magic Chef and they thought it was the defrost timer. Does that sound plausible?

Latest Questions

Hello! Every time my fridge goes into the defrost cycle, the timer stops advancing and it just stays there with no cooling. I've even tried changing out the timer twice, but get the same results! I'm lost on this one! Thanks, Steve

I ordered this part, and was advised that this is the correct part for my model. However, it doesn't look like the original part, so I don't know how to wire it. Can I please get some wiring information?
