I have a GE refrigerator that was not cooling at all both fridge and freezer (bottom freezer). The PTC relay appeared to be damaged (cracked and had a rattle noise). I have replaced the PTC relay, and the compressor is running and both fridge and freezer appear to be getting cold. It is obviously running continuously now to get cold however my compressor is really hot and the fan does not appear to be starting. Is there something else going on that could have caused the relay to burn out? Could it be the compressor? Is it time to call a repair man? The fried is only 7 years old.

I have a Haier BC112G Wine Cooler with a bad PTC Relay. It has the part number: P6R8MC OR0506 stamped on it. It has a single male input pin on it and two female outputs to the compressor. I was able to open up the relay and lightly sand both surfaces of the disc inside and probably ended up rotating it slightly and put it back together and it then had continuity through it. Previously it did not. Now it works. However, i'd like to replace it, as it has some sections of one side of the disc that are ruined and won't provide continuity. Sadly, this part number can't seem to be located anywhere that I've seen. Lots of "P6R8MC" matches, but nothing specific to the OR0506 suffix. Is there a translation for what that part of the number decodes to? I assume it has the resistance built into the part number. I'd like to find a single pin replacement of identical resistance, if possible. The one listed here on APPro seems to have 3 pins.. Not sure which ONE of those I would use. Any guidance for me? Thanks!

My small wine refrigerator by magic chef is running and cooling until the compressor gets so hot that the thermo protector clicks and shuts down the unit with no automatic restart. After turning off, cooling down and turning back on, the unit will start up, run and cool until the compressor again overheats. Could this be caused by the PTC Relay or is it the compressor?
