Light switch on bottom freezer compartment flakey (intermittant)

My Repair & Advice
I watched the video on replacing the switch on a side freezer where prying out to original switch did not look difficult. I then got on the floor and tried to pry out my switch. Had a terrible time (locking tab or switch body hardened with time?) and mangled the switch terribly and the upper panel of the freezer somewhat, but the switch did come out. AND THEN the top freezer panel with the switch and light assembly fell out into my hands! I was able to unplug one Molex connector and the whole panel with the switch and light was free from the refrigerator. I took this panel (about 10 x 12 inches) to my desk. I could have popped the switch out at that point with no trouble and no mangling.
I used some fine sandpaper and was able to smooth out the panel around the switch opening adequately; after all, who will see it?
The replacement switch pins didn't exactly match the old switch connector, but the APP folks on the phone insisted I had the right part and the replacement would be accompanied by instructions - which it was. A snip with wire cutters on the old connector and a little clean-up with an Xacto knife, and the new switch was connected.
The panel just pops into place! (After reconnecting the Molex connector). If I hand only known about the panel coming out so readily this would have been a 1 hour project.
BTW... that light switch also controls the ice maker! It only operates when the door is closes. SO the flakey switch also was the reason for the intermittent ice maker. Realized that when looking at the electrical diagram of the fridge again on APP's web site.
