Water softener was leaking

My Repair & Advice
I broke a clip trying to get it off to reset it. first relieve the water pressure by turning off upline from the softener, then open a sink tap to relieve all pressure. Do not use any tools to insert new clip. You have to line up the inlet and outlet lines perfectly or clip will not go in the slot. Much wiggling, moving and bad words to get lines lined up. I finally got the broken clip replaced, then noticed the outlet clip had popped out. wiggling, moving etc again and finally got that clip set again. Currently not leaking! Very frustrating job and much anger at GE for using such a cheap system to hook up pressure water line. I don't recommend any tools. I did use pliers to pull broken clip out. Use fingers only. Clip is very cheap! If I have to buy another softener eventually, then I will pay much more attention to water hook up. Prefer wrench and teflon tape connection like the good old days.
Hope this helps. Good Luck
