I have a Amana gas stove & the oven will not light all the time & the Igniter looks like it is getting hot. What could be the problem? Model # is AGS751W. I have took the ignitor out, do you think it is the problem and how can I check it? Thanks!
Roger
Answer Hello Roger! The ignitor can still glow, but not ignite if it is bad. It seems you may have a bad ignitor 786324. You can test the ignitor with an AMP Clamp meter, it should read 3.2-3.6 AMPS when powered on. You can also test it with a volt meter at the wires on the burner valve. It should read 3.2-3.6 AC when powered. If you do not have either of these items available, you can try to visually check it. When an ignitor starts to go out it usually has a dull orange to a red color as when it is new it has a white to bright red color when powered. I hope this helps!
