Is the Tub Boot the part that keeps thing items from going under the agitator? Also, the agitator seems really hard to pull up. I think I used to remove it by simply pulling up on it. I pulled fairly hard with no success. Do they slip around and become stuck on something? If so what other part do I need?

Answer Ron, No, the tub boot does not keep items from getting underneath the agitator. There is no "shield" between and agitator base and the tub. The items under the agitator indicate an overloading issue or a loose or broken agitator assembly. Once you remove the agitator cap, you should be able to pull straight up on the agitator , if it is stuck, you could also use a rope or belt and slip it under the agitator and pull up and out.
