Will this product remove mildew from the gasket? It has been there for a while, or should I just replace the whole gasket? Thank you.
Rebecca for Model Number Frigidaire Affinity Washer
Answer Hello Rebecca,
It will remove at least most of it. Many times mildew will root deeper into the rubber seal than can be cleaned off. Sometimes hot white vinegar will do well and other times I've heard of customers using bleach to make the stains invisible. I personally think replacing the seal is your best bet as time wasted trying to remove the stains without success is just wasted time adding to your frustration.
The engineers say there are two things that cause the mildew: Over soaping and fabric softener. You see, fabric softener is made of 80% to 90% animal fat. The remaining content is perfumes to mask the animal fats' decomposition. Over soaping puts a layer of dried soap on the inside of all water carrying parts which dries and cracks. The bacteria moves into the cracks and wait on the next food delivery, (fabric softener dispense). As the engineers have explained to me, the odor is the by-product of a bacterial action. Kill the bacteria and you eliminate the odors' development.

My washer is upper load type (working perfectly fine) and it has a mildew odor. Repair forum suggested me to use Affresh washer cleaner. Should I use Affresh or Magic Cleaner? Also I want to know, is it normal that some water remaining outer tank after the wash complete? Because I noticed some water remain near the drain hose when I removed the drain hose.
Thanks.

Answer Wipulasena, it is normal for a small amount of water to be in the drain hose itself when the cycle completes. A large amount is not normal and would reflect an issue with the product. For a top loading washer you will need to use Washer Majic, part number TJ131. Thanks!
