Our middle burner spark igniter sparks when we are using the left or right side burner.
Answer Hello Arvindnthakore,
All gas unit spark ALL surface burners when ANY of the surface burners are energized. This is done in case the spark module were to be mis-wired and the wrong one should spark during gas being released into the room. This is normal and if it could be stopped, it should not since this is for your safety.
How do you remove the old igniter? My cooktop is fixed in place. Thanks
Answer Hello D.J.,
Remove the burner cap and remove the burner fastening ring. This can usually be accomplished by putting the tips of a pair of needlenosed pliers into the grooves in the ring and use a screwdriver in the pliers handles for leverage. You will need to turn off the gas and disconnect the power. Raise the burner, unplug the wire from the igniter and remove the clip securing the igniter to the top assembly. Remove the igniter and install the new igniter in reverse order. Before re-assembly, place a small amount of any kind of grease, (lard does fine), to prevent seizing of the fastening ring.
The video showing the ignitor installation is not the same as my stove, The Dacor model eg486. how do you get to the ignitor?
Answer Jackson 15,
When you lift the burner cap off there will be a burner fastening ring in the center of the burner base. Remove this ring and you will be able to lift the base off with the igniter and uplug the igniter. From this point replace igniter and reassemble. You will want to check the igniter wire as well.
How to do you change the top burner spark ignitor for model ERD48S24?
Answer Hello Barbara. You will need to turn off the gas and disconnect the power. Then remove the venturi and the burners from the unit. Once removed, you will want to lift the cook top and access the bottom of the igniter. Unplug the wire from the igniter and remove the clip securing the igniter to the top assembly. Remove the igniter and install the new igniter in reverse order.
When turing on the front center burner, it will spark and light, but the sparker keeps sparking after it lights. What is the cause of this?
Answer Hello Joe. Check and make sure there is good grounding on the burner and the burner is clean. If so, you will need to replace the spark module 86527 on the unit it is bad.
Hello I also need to know how to replace this part. The top on my model doesn't come up.Is it riveted in? I am not certain how to get this part off. Thank you.
Answer Hi Howard. Turn off the gas supply and the power. Remove the grates and the burner caps from the cook top. Remove the knobs from the controls. Using a 25/32" (20mm) socket, unscrew and remove the venturi from each of the burner bases and then lift the burner base and rubber O-rings from the maintop. Carefully lift the front of the maintop and prop it up w/ a board or a hammer handle. Unplug the wire from the igniter pin you need to replace. Igniter part # 76482-001. Unsnap the e-ring from the igniter body groove and remove the igniter from the cook top. Install the igniter and reinstall the cook top. Thank You.
When you turn the gas on and it ignites the spark, well not quite on two burners. Can the ignitor be the problem?
Answer Hi Bill. Yes, very common that ignitors crack and short out. This part # is 76482-001. The burner caps also need to be "cleaned" regurallry with a small brass brush to insure the ground path is correct. Make sure that the burner caps are set back on correctly also. Thank you.
