The plate at the back of the drum is getting rusty. Is a replacement part availabe with out buying and replacing the drum? How hard is it to replace? Is there a paint that would cover the rust spots?
Answer W. Sheckels,
With the spot in the back of the dryer being rusty, this would require the drum to be replaced. Unfortunately there is no paint that is made for high temps to cover the rust spot on dryer drums. To remove and replace the drum you will need to start by unplugging the unit. You will then use a putty knife and push the spring clips between the front panel and main top. There will be one on each side. You will want to remove the front paned of the dryer. With the panel removed, pay close attention and maybe draw a diagram of how the belt is installed on the motor. Disconnect the belt then lift on the drum to lift off the bearing support in the back and remove.

There is a lot of lint behind the asmy drum can I remove screws fig 18 to clean. it's not getting hot so I want to try clear the lint before buying parts or replacing it.
To remove the drum, Once you have the front panel off you will lift the drum bearing out of the holder. It is better not to remove the screws in the back of the drum but lift the bearing out along with the drum.
