Water is dripping from where the water filter area. Near the two back screws. I replaced the filter but still leaking. Is it the water filter head and if so can a semi- inexperienced person change it out?
Answer Hello Penny,
The filter head is probably leaking and you should adjust the freezer temperature one number warmer and the fresh food section one number colder to increase air circulation and prevent the new part from leaking. This is not terribly hard but you should take plenty of pictures so if there is any question during re-assembly, you can refer to the pictures for assistance. You could re-post and include an e-mail address so we can send you some informative illustrations pertaining to this repair.
How to fit a water tube in FRIG RE WATER FILTER BASE?
Answer Hello John,
Push the line into the opening and when it bottoms, push harder. It will "pop" in about another 1/4 inch. Now to seat the seal, pull on the water line without touching the blue ring.
How do I replace this water base filter for this Frigidaire.
Answer Mark F.
The housing mounted in the food compartment along with the light and damper assembly must be removed as well. To remove the Control Housing Assembly, remove the three screws across the front control box and the two screws located in the rear control box. After removing cover over water line on front filter models, remove the screw from the back of the control box. Drop the housing from the unit down to access the lines going into the back of the filter base. Then access the lines coming into the base of the filter head. Press in on the fittings and release the lines from the filter base. Then remove the filter base from the unit. Install the new filter base 240396002 in reverse order.
What causes water to drip from the water dispensor when not in use?
Answer Hello Wet Willy. Remove the hose from the water valve and see if it is leaking from there. If so, you will need to order and replace the water valve on the unit.
I took out my old dishwasher.....can I crimp the hose for the water supply long enough to connect a shutoff valve so I can hook up a ice maker in it's place..........
It is not recommended to crimp the hose to install a shut off. You would want to shut the water off to the home supply in order to attach a shutoff valve for the icemaker.
