I'm trying to remove part AP3869105 "Box" from the fridge to remove part AP3687338 "water filter base". The water filter base is on the right side of the fridge. Where the cover water tube "AP3574878" connects to part AP386105 is my problem. I see no hidden screws and I do not understand how to remove it. Everything on the left with the damper fan came off easy.

Answer Hello Aaron. There is 1 screw at the back of the cover 241505001. You will remove this screw and pull down on the back of the cover to release it from the housing [AP386105]. Hope this helps.

The new filter does not sit in the unit properly to open the valve. Any ideas ?

Answer Hi Mick. If the water filter does not set correctly in relation to the head assy. and lock without leaks, it needs replaced. The head assy. is part # 240396002. Thank You.

I ordered and replaced the base water filter for the PureSource2 with the model number AP3687338 because it would start leaking just a few weeks after putting in a new filter. However, it is still leaking, even with a brand new water filter, meaning that it's even worse than it was now because it won't even go a few weeks without leaking now. It seems to leak where the water filter fits into the base unit and it comes out of the little holes and leaks onto the shelf of the refrigerator. Any suggestions?

Answer Hi Diane. The water valve part # 242252702, will supply constant pressure to the filter head. If the solenoid is open and wont shut off then you need to change it. Instructions included. Note: Due to manufacturer changes this water valve may appear different than your original. However it is a factory replacement. Thank You.

My water filter was leaking like others have described, so I ordered the base water filter AP3687338 and replaced it in my refrigerator along with putting in a new PureSource2 water filter, but it's still leaking inside the unit where the water filter goes into the base and it comes out the little holes in the bottom just like it was. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Thank you for any help you can provide!

Answer Hello Diane. Check and make sure none of the water lines are cut or broke and that the lines are in the base 240396002 good. If not, it will cause the unit to leak. Hope this helps.

As others have described, my water filters began leaking after about 2 months of putting in a new one, so I ordered and received this part. I replaced it in my refrigerator, and I put in a new Pure Source2 water filter, but it's still leaking just like it was. What could the problem be?

Replacing water filter housing. I've read through the above topics and have the same problem removing the front control panel, as others seem to here. I've removed all 5 screws but something is not coming free on the right side of the control panel. I saw the response posted, but can't find the hidden screw: Hi Gyro. ... You can look for the hidden screw behind the fdilter hsg. in the rear center. The water filter base is part AP3687338. Thank you. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Answer Hi Jikwee. There are hidden screws in the Lt. Side of the control box. (the left panel with the rear damper). The long screw is to the rear of the damper area. Then when it is apart the front and lt. side will "hinge' Together . You can look for the hidden screw behind the fdilter hsg. in the rear center. The water filter base is part AP3687338. Thank you. On the base water filter AP3687338 there are two ports where the filter cartrige connects. Which has 2 plastic like nipples in each port. As I removed the part I noticed the left "nipple" was cracked off. Before I put the part back on, is the base water filter operational with that nipple removed? Or do I need to replace the whole part as a result?

Answer HHi Scott. You will need to replace the filter housing assy. part # is 240396002. You will leak beyond measure as if you do not. Remember to push in on the blue tabs to release the hoses and to push in very tight upon reassembly. Thank you.

Trying to remove water filter base #240396002. Have removed all phillips screws and several nut driver type screws from the housing along both sides of refrigerator compartment, but something is holding the housing very tight in the area of the filter base. I'm afraid if I pull on it anymore, it will break. What am I doing wrong?

Do I need special tools to remove the front control and base filter housing? If not, what tools do I need?

Answer Hi Millie. In the front part there are 3 phillips screws on the bottom and you can feel the holes they are in. There is also a left side control box cover5 going from front to back with 2-more phillips screws. They might also be 1/4" nut driver style. There is also another front screw (#4), in the back lower rt. underneath, behind the base filter hsg. The base filter hsg. is part # 240396002. Thank you.
