i cleaned some ice build up around the ice maker, when i put my food back, started making a loud noise, so i shut it off and turned back on. Now and E f code are showing, Ive unplugged so far for a maximum of 20 mins, plugged back in a reset but then it goes back to EF.. Should i unplug it for longer??? any help would be greatly appreciated.
The Ef error is an indication that there is an evaporator fan circuit failure. You will need to check wiring between evaporator fan and Main Control Board. Check for 12VDC to fan between red and brown wires. Check for variant voltage (depending on high or low speed) between yellow and brown. If correct replace evaporator fan. If error code still exist, replace Main Control Board.
Fridge is runnibg fine, but an odor has developed. must a refrigerator that has been sitting door closed and un plugged. I remove all food as weel as in the freezer, washed and sanitized both freezer and refrig. smell came back after a few hrs. Is there a air filter in this unit. what elsa could be causing this?? any help would be great.
Answer Martin, No, most refrigerators don't have air filters(including yours) and most odors are from an outside source (something you put in the refrigerator) or from sitting for extended periods with the doors closed, allowing any previous odor to intensify. There's not much you can do, once you've washed the complete interior out with hot soapy water and rinsed it out(don't forget the door liner and gaskets as well). You can attempt to de odorize the interior using Baking Soda,Activated Charcoal, Coffe Grounds, Vanilla Extract, or Fabric Softner Sheets
I have a figidaire side by side and the freezer keeps freezing up. I tested the defrost heater for continuity and it has 0.03 on the meter so im figuring that it is okay. The fridge and freezer will run constantly and in time it freezes up what do you suggest? I also have another issue that the ice maker sistem quit working along with the lights in the freezer side of the unit do you think this would be the main board?
Answer Hello Jimmy. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
115 To Ref, Power to freezer lights, no display on control panel in refr compartment removed main control board control fuse is ok, is there check out procdure for main control board?
Answer John, You'll need to check the refrigerator door light switch, and or voltage (120 VAC) to the control board from the door switch ( yellow/black wire). When the fridge door is open it supplies voltage to the control board, which causes the display to light. Voltage on the wire, indicates a faulty control board, no voltage indicates a door switch or wiring issue.
The refrigerator has power but the compressor and fan are not working. Does this sound like a new main board is needed? Please advise.
Answer Rona, Yes, the first thing to check, is the wiring and the main power board 241511102 located on the bottom of the refrigerator, behind the kickplate grille. It will be a bit difficult to get at, you may have to raise the front of the fridge to remove the mounting screws and remove the mounting plate to slide the control box out.
