Ice continues to dispense, when I open the door it stops I just replaced the ribbon cable.
The most likely cause for the dispenser to continue to dump ice would be a faulty power control board on the dispenser.
Do you have the wiring harness that connects at top of freezer and goes to dispensor main board
If you are referring to the wiring harness that goes from the top of the door down to the dispenser assembly, this part is not a separate part and only comes with the door.
I have no lights on the water/ice dispenser that work. I have checked the connections and wires at top and they look good. Should I assume it is the board?
Answer Hello Tim,
If you can verify that 120Vac is getting to the display board 241708310, it has failed. If voltage is not getting to the display board but is getting to the dispenser power control board, the power control board 241708202 has failed.
Ice dispenser doesn't work. Replaced control board, no help.
You would want to check to see if there is power going to the auger motor when you hit the dispenser switch. The light switch must be pushed in. If there is no power then check the wire harness going from the cabinet to the door for loose or broken wires. Specifically the purple wire. Also check to make sure that the dispenser lever is making contact with the switch.
How do I replace the main power door for dispenser?
To replace the main dispenser power board you will remove the drip tray from the dispenser and remove the 3 screws at the bottom of the dispenser. Pull out a little and lift the dispenser cover off. Once you have the dispenser cover off you will disconnect the ribbon harness from the control board. With the unit unplugged from the wall you will remove the old board and install the new control board.
I have no power to the any of the ice and water dispenser controls and I already tried replacing the main power dispenser control board was wondering if it could be the ribbon cable?
Answer Hello Terry. It could be the ribbon cable. First check the wires at the hinge of the freezer door and make sure the connections are good and there are no broken wires. If the wires are good, check the ribbon cable. If it is good, then it is the control board 241708306.
Our fridge was not staying cool. Nor was the freezer. The thermostat was all over the place. There was frost built up in the freezer.
Answer Hello Bonnie. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
