Part #AP2126381 why is this expensive or is that the price for four?
Answer Ella, the burner grate 316202401 comes one per package. We base our prices off the manufacturer suggested price, at a discounted rate. If the manufacturer has a high manufacturer suggested price or our cost is at a higher rate from the manufacturer then the parts themselves will be at a higher cost. We do apologize for the issue. Thank you for your inquiry.
Is this grate cast iron?
Answer Hello Marjorie,
This 316202401 is an enameled cast iron grate.
I read both of the questions that are posted related to the burner grate - both asked about the high cost which was not addressed in the answer. How about actually addressing this? I'd like to see how your "dedicated staff" can possibly justify the unbelievably high cost of one grate. And please, no BS - we're not stupid.
Answer Hello Kathy! We base our prices off the manufacturer suggested price, at a discounted rate. If the manufacturer has a high manufacturer suggested price or our cost is at a higher rate from the manufacturer then the parts themselves will be at a higher cost. We try to have the lowest parts prices available for online part retailers and if we do not we do have a price match guarantee available- we will try to price match the major online competitor that beats our online listed price. I hope this clears up any confusion. Thanks.
Why would the burner grate [FRIGIDAIRE Burner Grate (Part Number: AP2126381)]enamel coating start exploding off the grate in small chunks creating a threat to the cook and landing on the floor creating a hazard to bare feet? What can be done other than to replace grates? Are new grates any safer?
Why are new grates so costly: $86 each, four grates needed?
Answer Russ, the burner grates and cooktop surface are Porcelain coated(ceramic glass) They can "chip" if banged or knocked against something during the cleaning or cooking process. They can "graze" when exposed to excessive, high heat(oversized pots and pans, boil outs, and excessive high heat cooktimes). At present the grates and cooktop surfaces are still produced in the same manner as always, theres no alot to be done, except replace the grates, and be a bit more cautious in the cleaning and cooking process. Thanks and Good Luck
