My freezer is hot. The light comes on and the fan runs, but my freezer is not and I have lost all my food. What could this be?
Answer Hello Sheila,
You need to check the compressor. If it is running and is cool, the unit has lost the freon from the sealed system or the compressor 5304475092 has an internal problem. If the compressor is running but is hot, there is a sealed system restriction. If the compressor isn't running at all, you could have a bad start device 5304412851 for the compressor or the unit is stuck in defrost 297318010 or the harness could be defective.
The compressor is making a loud clicking sound. Everything is working fine but the sound is unbearable. Thanks Tom
If the compressor is making a ticking noise then the valves inside the compressor are more than likely failing and the compressor would need to be replaced.
Freezer works Fine, Frig does not get cold?
What Could it be?
Answer Hello Dave. Make sure the evaporator fan motor is running and is good. If so, It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Refrigerator runs continually, compressor cycles on & off every 5 to 10 seconds. Compressor will get very hot in short period of time. Unplugged unit over night to cool compressor down. Rep lugged the next day & same problem. Any idea what could be causing this?
You more than likely have a bad start relay or bad compressor. You will want to pull the start relay off and look for burn marks on the plastic casing. If there are burn marks then replace the relay. If the unit continues this after replacing then compressor is defective and would need to be replaced. In most cases it would be the relay.
compress will not come on,light is on in side
Answer James, The first checks should be at the defrost timer 215846602 you could have an open contact to the compressor circuit. or the cold control 5304421256 could also have an "open" circuit. They are both located in the control console of the fresh food compartment. You don't want to start at the compressor.
Cools, but doesn't freeze.
Answer Hello Tom,
This can be caused by quite a few different scenarios. In order to diagnose this issue, more information will have to be collected. First, remove the shelves and the rear wall. There will be four Phillips head screws across the top, three across the bottom, and two longer screws about six inches up from the bottom ones. You will also probably have to remove the track from the left wall to remove the rear wall. When these are out, yo are only going to rotate the rear wall around towards the right as the thermostat is attached by wires on the right side behind the knob. Be sure when you re-assemble the unit that the Styrofoam thermostat cover is fully re-attached.
When this is accomplished, you should be looking directly at the evaporator coils. The frost pattern should go nearly all the way down without being frosted up to the point no air can pass through them. If there is so much frost that no air can pass, you have a defrost issue. You can force a defrost cycle by advancing the defrost timer with a small screwdriver. The defrost timer is located in the rear of the unit.
If there is a good frost pattern without a major build-up, you should feel of the hot coils on the back of the unit. They should be warm. If they are room temperature, you have a freon loss or a sealed system restriction.
If you can't find a problem, check the door seals to ensure contact to the cabinet front all the way around the door when the door is shut.
Let us know which direction it goes and we will provide all the assistance we can to solve your issue.
14-month old Fregidaire refrigerator, model # BA92304354 and serial # FRTI8S6J54, is running but doesn't get cool. What could be wrong with it?
Answer It could be a sealed system problem. If it is, then you would need a licensed technician to do the repair. Check and make sure the compressor is running.
