What is the warranty on this compressor? The fan and everything else is working but the compressor isn't.
Answer Hello Da,
The standard warranty on the compressor is one year. You should check the start relay by removing it and shaking it. If it rattles, it is bad and the compressor may not be the issue.
compressor needed for Westinghouse upright freezer
The compressor for your freezer has been discontinued with no replacement.
I have checked the windings in my compressor as per your listings. The first one is .9 ohms and the other is 4.6 ohms. Is this good readings for this compressor or do I need to have someone replace this?
Answer Hello Doug,
Although the .9 sounds low, there is still a reading missing. Three terminals and three readings. The first two readings should add together to equal the third reading. Then to complete the test, test from any one of the leads to ground to insure the windings are not shorted to ground. Any deviation from these instructions means a bad compressor electrically.
What is the horsepower rating of this compressor?
Answer Hello Rufus! The manufacturer does not supply the horsepower rating of the compressor. However, normally compressors have a HP of 1/3. Thanks!
I replaced the starter on my compressor with a starter not made for this type of fridge, but was told it was compatible. I need to know which wires go to which prongs. The colored wires are red, black, and white. It is working, but I want to ensure that the wires are placed correctly to the prongs.
Answer Hi Jones. There is a supplied wiring diagram in the toe kick plate or in the controls area. From what I can tell on the wiring diagram we have... The red wire that comes from the defrost control board feeds the L-terminal on the compressor relay. The white goes to the N-terminal of the relay. Unfortunately the wiring diagram does not show the black wire compressor connection. Did you happen to mark the wires before removing them or take a cell phone picture ? Thank You.
