Why does my ice maker only give me crushed ice and won't give me cubed ice? The indicator light does go back and forth from crushed to cubes when the button is pushed. Which board do I need to replace ?

Answer Randy,
It may not be the board that is causing the dispenser to only dispense crushed and not cubed. You will want to pull the ice bin out, there is an opening where the arm from the dispenser goes into the auger motor housing. There is a solenoid there. Either that solenoid is stuck in the up position or the solenoid 241675701 arm has broken and does not go up and down.

Answer Randy, You probably don't need any board. You need to check the shifter lever assembly on the side of the bin, and make sure the end of the shaft is inside the solenoid yoke. If you remove the ice bin, select cubed ice, hold the freezer door switch closed and press the paddle, you should hear and see the yoke and solenoid activate and lift up, if not, check or replace the "cube" solenoid 241675701 in the motor housing on the back of the bin assembly rail.
When the freezer door is closed, the ice auger continues to run, the only way to turn it OFF is to open the door. As it is running in the auger mode, the switch panel reads "Cube" and does not change when other buttons are pressed.

Answer Hi David. Remove power. Remove Fountain controls to access the switch board assy. It is right behind the keypad. Is there a stuck cube switch? Unhook the ribbon cable from this to the power board part # 241708309. If the auger stops after unhooking the switch board, Then you will need to replace the switch board part # 241708309. Also double check the paddle switches to see if the ice switch is not stuck. Isolate this switch and see if it stops auger turning constantly. Part # 241689101. Thank You.
I have replaced this board (AP3683024). with your parts Dept. The old board and your new board does the same thing.

Answer Hi John. Both cabinet compartments are controlled by the main controls at the top. I am sorry you are having such a time with this. The temperature control runs the compressor and also monitors the cavity sensor inputs to control run time and damper opening. This part # is 240596704. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Thank you.
What does the the Thermister do in the Ice Dispenser Circuit?? Can it shut down the Ice Dispenser???
John for Model Number FLSC238DS5
Answer Hello John. The thermister is used to read the temperature inside the freezer assembly. It should not have anything to do with the dispenser not dispensing ice. You will need to test and see if the dispenser motor is getting power. If so, and the motor does not run, you will need to replace the auger motor 5304462594. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
