When the refrigerator door is opened more than half way a loud thump is heard?
Answer Hello Kasey. It sounds like the hinge bearing is bad. You can inspect it for wear, by removing the door. Hope this helps.

Off hand, I don't know the model number of my refrigerator. It's at least 10-15 years old. side-by-side, ice/water dispenser. Anyway, the refrigerator door has just recently started doing this thing where it won't close unless we 'make' it close. I mean, we used to be able to just kind of 'let go' of the door after we gave it a little push in the 'close' direction, but now, it just stops whenever we stop pushing. It only closes if we actually make sure with our pushing, that it is closed. Would this be a door closure bearing problem?
Answer Hello Amy,
Without the model number from the I.D. tag on the unit, it is not possible to know what door closure system was incorporated on the unit by the manufacturer. (Some have spring loaded hinges, some have cam risers, etc....). I'm sorry but we will need the model number to look at what you have so we can advise on the possible failures and include part numbers. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
On Frigidaire refrigerator door hinge, are there two bearings or just the top one to replace?
Answer Hello John,
There is always a hinge at the top and at the bottom. Whether there are door closures on the hinge is model dependent. If you could re-post with the model number, we can look up your model and tell you the parts needed and the part numbers. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
What are the part number for the upper and lower hinges.
Answer Michael, the upper hinge is part number 240327207 and the lower hinge comes as a kit, part number 5303918455. Thanks!
The bottom shelf on door rub the inside of the refrigerator when closing the door so if you dont push it closed it will stay open a little bit.
Answer Hello John,
You would want to check your lower hinge on the unit to see if it has pushed the cabinet inward causing the door to sag. If this is the case you will need to striaghten the hinge out and possible use washers to lift door a little to allow the unit to close properly.
