I have just replaced my dryer belt and have now noticed the heating element coil is broken since no heat was being given out when reassembled. I have removed the drum and the coil on its' heavy metal frame which is very rusty but may last for a while. My question is: is it best just to buy the replacement coil or the whole frame and coil?
Alan P. for Model Number Frigidaire Gallery Dryer
Answer Hello Alan,
If you are not accustomed to replacing the element winding, it is probably best to order the assembly. The reason is because if the element isn't stretched properly and gets against a ground, it will cause you to have to replace it again, not to mention the fact that it could become a fire or electrical shock hazard if it shorts to ground.
Three weeks ago I replaced the heating element in my dryer it worked fine for two weeks and the heating element blew again I noticed the dryer vent tube was pinched closed would this cause the heating element to go out that fast or is there another problem.
Charles for Model Number GLEQ2152ES1
Answer Hello Charles,
A restricted vent tube would cause unit to not heat properly as it would cause longer dry times. You may want to check the ceramic heater points for being loose and causing heater to hit the drum which would cause heater to go out.
need a heating element its a frigidaire affinity
Dan for Model Number LE06000ES2
Answer Hello Dan, you can purchase the restring kit part number 5300622034 or the complete assembly part number 131553900. Thanks!
I believe I need a heater element for my stack washer/dryer unit and was wondering if my model uses 1/4" or 5/16". Is it easier to install the element unit or pay more and buy the complete kit? Thanks
Robert for Model Number GLET1041AS2
Answer Hello Robert,
It is easier to replace the heating unit but if all of the insulators are intact, there is no reason why you cannot replace the element into the housing. Just make sure you don't over-extend (stretch) the new element too far. Your unit uses the 5/16 inch terminals as per the part description.
Hi We have restrung a new heating element , now the dryer will not start. It ran fine before there just was no heat . We have tested everything with meter an all test o . We also put a new pig tail on, tested the breaker and where you plug it in to the wall. Could this be some kind of grounding issue.
Jane for Model Number gler341as2
Answer Hello Jane,
If you are testing the thermal fuses 134120900 and they are reading O then that means that they are open. They should be reading closed or should have continuity through them. If they are open then the unit will not heat. You should also check your venting from the blower motor all the way to the outside of home for restrictions that would cause thermal fuse to fail. When you test the thermostat 3204267 or thermal fuses disconnect the wires and test from each terminal on the part. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
I turned on my dryer and there is absolutely no heat at all....Before I buy anything I wanted to know if this sounded like just the heating element??? Thank you!!!
Chass
Answer Hello Chass. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Drying had not ran in a while. But when I went to laundry room getting clothes of top of dryer. The dryer was hot to touch. I unplugged and left it all night. I plugged it back in next day and dryer ran but didn't heat at all. Does this sound like a heating element? If so what element would i need to purchase?
Robert for Model Number GLER 331AS2
Answer Robert, Based on your post, you're on track. You most likley had something small and metal laying across the element and touching the casing. Tghat would cause the dryer to be warm, when not in use, and would eventually cause the element to short out and not heat in the next time used. There is only one heating element 5300622034 but you have the option of replacing the assembly 131553900 . Either way you'll need to dismantle the top and front panels, and remove the drum to access the heater it's located inside the cabinet behing the drum.
I turned my Affinity 8700 on and when drying it smells like something is burning there is no lint or anything clogged.
Heather for Model Number AEQ8700FE0
Answer Hello Heather. You need to check and see if there is any burnt spots inside the unit to lead you to the sorce of the smell. Also, make sure the ventig is not clogged on the inside of the dryer.
I want to replace just the coil, but I can not get the old one out of the block, is there a way to do this?
Pat for Model Number gleq2152eso
Answer Hello Pat. You will have to bend the tabs on the ends straight and slide the terminals out and replace with the new element 5300622034. Make sure the element is not touching the metal anywhere on the unit.
