My gas dryer turns on and starts to heat but there is a loud high pitch squeal noise any idea what that could be I was told I need a new gas valve.
You will want to check the rear bearing of the unit but if the noise is only happening when the gas is on then it would be a gas valve.
Note: This question is for the older version of this part, but we thought you might still find it helpful
Gas valve does not close always.
Answer Hello Robert. The only way to repair the unit is to replace the gas valve in the unit.
Hi, the burner will fire for a minute or so, then it quits and only the ignitor turns on every few minutes. Like it is trying to fire but the gas does not turn on? I see only 2 wires to the valve assembly so I am hoping this is the problem. As another asked, I do hear a slight buzz when the ignitor turns on. This is a new sound.
The weak "chattering" coil kit part # 5303931775 will not hold current well and not allow the solenoid valve plungers to stay open. Use a volt/ohm meter part # TJMA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Dryer Gas Coils: Check the coils 279834 and see if they test good. You can test the coils using a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Thank You.
I smell gas only when the dryer is running, what could be the cause?
Answer Hi Mikel. Remove the front lower middle panel. Shut off the safety gas valve. Use liquid leak detector spray part # TJLDL-1QS to test the joints after you have tightened them. If you absolutely have not found anything then it sounds like the Gas valve assy. part # 5303207409 needs replaced. Thank You.
