I have an old Kenmore chest freezer that needs a new lid seal. The lid seal appropriate for the freezer is no longer manufactured. Is there a compatible seal or universal seal kit that will work?
Answer Hello Gaylon! Unfortunately, the door gasket for your model, part number 592946, has been discontinued with no further replacements or cross references available and our company is unaware of any other available sources. Sorry about that!
Ice and frost is forming on the inside door top. Is that caused by a bad magnetic door seal?
Answer Hello Ed. Yes, usually either the door seal or the door has dropped. You will need to check and see how the warm air is getting into the freezer.
I need a new door seal. The seal on the door measures 2' x 5'.
Answer Hello Tom. Sorry, we do not offer parts for this model.
Ordered door gasket and received correct part. Have installed per directions. When you close the door it will not seal. Can you help?
Answer Hello William,
The door seal has probably got creases from being folded in the shipping box. This is easily dealt with by using a hair dryer. Heat the door seal until it is so hot it is almost impossible to touch. Use a popsicle stick or something else blunt that will not damage the seal to help manipulate the seal so it contacts the cabinet. When you have gone all the way around the door, let the door stay closed until it has cooled off. When the seal cools, it will retain the shape it was in when it cooled so it will keep the proper shape. If the situation is that the new seal is too thick to allow the door to seal, you may have to use a shoebox to cut out spacers to fit behind the door hinges. This is sometimes necessary when the new door seal is thicker than the original.
