My refrigerator is a Kenmore and the ice maker will go through the steps but is not getting water to the ice maker. When it goes to fill up water comes out the water dispenser on the door and goes on the floor. We bought a new filter but that doesn't seem to work either. Do you have any ideas what might be the problem. Please let me know with an answer. Thank you, Sheryl B

Answer Hello Sheryl. You need to check and see if the water tank is frozen or if the water valve is bad on the unit. Also, make sure the fill tube coming tot he icemaker is not frozen and clogged with ice.

Included in this message is your answer to my original post. Okay, so I am getting water at the filter. If I take off the filter cup (for lack of correct term) I can press the button on the door and water fills a glass. When I reattach the filter cup the water will flow for a short time (from the door) then it stops. The ice maker made two dumps of ice after I defrosted it and hasn't made any today. Any advice?

Hello, My Water dispenser began to dispense slowly and then stop altogether. The ice then stopped. I defrosted the freezer and now it is making ice. However, the water will not come out. It gets to the Pure Source filter and I have gotten it to produce about a glassful of water out of the door, then nothing. At present I do not have a filter cartridge in, as I thought that maybe it was bad and have not went out to buy another one. Can you help. Thanks for this site. I have successfully repaired my stove and dryer using this site!

Answer Hello Melanie. You need to remove the water line from the bottom of the freezer door. Then test the dispenser and see if the water is coming out down there. If so, the water line in the freezer door is frozen and will need to be thawed out. if there is no water there, remove the line from the valve and see if you get water out of the valve. If not, replace the water valve 218832401 on the unit. If there is water there, then the filter head 218904404 may be bad and need to be replaced in the unit.

Thank you for your prompt reply about my filter replacement.My parts source (Budget Appliances Surrey BC)claim there is no difference, other than price, between the WF1CB and WFCB. Since I have had "water troubles" in the fridge I suspect there is a difference. Is there? Thanks.

Answer Hello Al! We do not have the specs available to verify the exact difference between the two filters. However, from what we have available here is what I am able to verify: WFCB (wfcb) is manufactured for products before 2001 and does not come with the o-ring. This is an all white filter. WF1CB (WF1CB) is manufactured for products in 2001 and comes with an o-ring. This is a while filter with a blue top and bottom. Hope this information helps you. Thanks!

Which filter? WFCB or WF1CB? One repair shop says one type, appliance repair man says another. The fridge is pre 2001.

Thank's for the earlier answer, I found out the problem with the leak at the bottom near the compressor, its the water inlet tube from valve to filter that is leaking can I repair that? its about a 1 cm cut that's where its leaking , there is no part listing for this tube , can I change it myself even if I find it? it seems to be going upwards from the left back side under the back cover all the way up to the filter, any help is appreciated.

Answer Hello Shane. If the line is a 5/16" line, you can cut out the back part and use the union WR02X11330 to repair the line. If it is 1/4", you will need to order 2198677. Hope this helps.
